HOW TO SEARCH

Search on one field or combination of fields to narrow your search.  Press the search button to begin and output your results.

Results are displayed below this display header. Ten fields are searchable. Each field (column) is sortable (except for remarks). Sometimes using a combination of searching and sorting will yield the results you are looking for.

The Orig field - This field is used mostly for translators. It indicates the station originating the programming. That station could be either an AM station, another FM station or the HD2 or HD3 of an existing HD FM station. These originators could change at a moment's notice and we try to keep them up to date.

Use the language pull down menu to search for stations broadcasting in languages other than English.  Use the country pull down menu to select the country.

RBDS (Radio Broadcast Data System). The United States uses the RBDS system, not RDS as in other parts of the world.  RBDS info in this database consists of the following fields: PI (Program ID)code, PS (Program service) info, Radiotext and Pty (program type). Of most interest to FM Dxers is the PI, since in almost all cases, the transmitted code can be easily converted to the station's callsign. The PS is also valuable, although less so than previously since many stations now transmit the song title and artist with sometimes just a passing reference to their slogan. PI and Pty decode much faster than either PS or radiotext. To find a station from its PI code, the PI code MUST be entered in upper case or the result will be nothing. RDS Pty codes differ slightly from RBDS Pty codes. Pty codes received from stations outside the US may look different if decoded on a radio using the RBDS system. Some of our PI codes also show three letter codes which are displayed by Sangean HD radios, in addition to the usual hexidecimal PI codes.

The Mode field has three options: HD indicates the station broadcasts in hybrid digital mode, M indicates monaural transmission and Silent indicates that the station is not on the air at this time.

Longitude (W) and latitude (N)are shown in degrees, minutes and seconds. Thus 75-17-26 is 75 degrees, 17 minutes and 26 seconds. US territories west of Hawaii are not included in this database.

NOTE: FOR SEARCHES OF ALL SPANISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES
You MUST use the proper Spanish spelling to obtain results! The Spanish language uses tilde (accent) marks on many words. These tilde marks (')are used to accent certain sylables. For example, a search for "Extasis" will not yield any results unless a tilde (accent) mark is placed over the letter E, resulting in "xtasis". Please use the proper form. If you are using a smartphone or tablet, it should be easy to select an accented vowel or the . If you are working on a PC, please follow this link, which takes you to a help page for your particular operating system- https://studyspanish.com/typing-spanish-accents.

SEARCH EXAMPLES
*To search for all translators in Ohio, type W2 in the callsign field and type OH in the state field. This will yield Channels 201-299. Type W3 instead for all translators on 107.9.
*To search for all LPFMs in Nevada, type -LP in the callsign field and type NV in the state field. *To search the entire United States, leave the state field empty.
*To list all stations in Rhode Island in order from 88.1 to 107.9, type RI in the state field and when you get the results, go to the results table and click on frequency. This will sort your results from 88.1 to 107.9. Click it again to resort your results from 107.9 to 88.1 instead. THIS WORKS ON ALL FIELDS.
*If a search fails, check your spelling! A format search for all stations that call themselves Relevant Radio will not work if Relevent Radio is entered instead. Be correct and precise.
*Typing KBJ in the callsign field will yield all stations having those letters, in that order, somewhere in their callsign.
*If no country is selected in the country drop down menu, the database will output results from ALL countries and you may end up with results you didn't ask for.

A nautical mile is based on the circumference of the earth, and is equal to one minute of latitude.
It is slightly more than a statute (land measured) mile
(1 nautical mile = 1.1508 statute miles ). Nautical miles are used for charting and navigating. Use statute miles for your output.
